What to pack in your suitcase

When deciding what to pack for your vacation, it's always important to travel light but bring only what's necessary so you don't miss out on enjoying something due to a lack of luggage. Sometimes buying what you need at your destination can be more expensive or difficult to find. Therefore, we recommend packing the following items Essential elementsbased on what you plan to do during your stay.

Essential elements

  • Swimsuit: You decide how many you want depending on the time of day and the variety you want to show off.

  • Sunscreen: Skin protection is very important, especially if you're going to enjoy our wet and green areas or if you're going to exercise. Especially if you're going to tan in our solarium, do so with sunscreen.

  • Swimsuit: To be able to leave the pool without having to return to your room, bring a bathrobe for women or a comfortable T-shirt for men. This will allow you to enter our restaurant from the wet area with your body covered.

  • Insect Repellent: Since we're in a tropical area, we'll always have mosquitoes, which can be bothersome especially in the afternoon; therefore, we recommend packing your favorite one. You can also get it at our hotels.

  • Bring your daily medication: If you take daily medication, always bring it with you so you don't have to get it urgently and at a higher cost. We also recommend bringing a travel kit for children (acetaminophen, ear drops, burn cream, probiotics, among others).

  • Permissions and identification for minors: Colombian law requires all minors traveling to carry their original identification and civil registration to verify their relationship with their parents. If they are not traveling with their parents or legal guardians, their permission must be authenticated in order to travel with these companions.

  • A cap or hat to protect you from the sun.

  • Flip-flops for more comfortable and safe walking in the wet zone and other areas without having to return to your room.

  • Sunglasses: These will be useful for both the trip and your stay.

Optional elements

  • Sportswear: If you enjoy sports, you've come to the right place. You can jog inside or outside our facilities, ride a bike on the various trails in the area, or swim in our 20-meter semi-Olympic pool. Therefore, we recommend bringing the necessary clothing for your favorite sport. Also, remember that we have a soccer, volleyball, and basketball court.

  • Sneakers for walking in the green areas or in our farm or orchards for greater comfort while walking.

  • A new book or the one you're reading: What a special moment to continue reading your book or start the book you've been meaning to read, while sunbathing and enjoying a piña colada.

Prepare everything you need for your pet

Remember that we are Pet-Friendly and we love welcoming our canine and feline friends. We want them to be comfortable and safe too. We suggest preparing your pet's trip as follows: Practical tips before your stay at our Hostería Guaracú in San Jerónimo

Read the pet policy before arriving at our facilities so you can be prepared for what pets you should bring and the rules you must follow. Remember that, just as we love pets, we have guests who prefer to travel without pets, and that's why we must comply with the established policy and continue to welcome our furry friends.

  • Please bring your dog's food in adequate quantities for the stay, as well as his/her own food bag. If he/she is a barf dog, we can refrigerate it for you.

  • Please bring a bottle or thermos to keep him/her hydrated. It's hot, and he/she must stay cool. If this is his/her first time in the heat, he/she can suffer heat exhaustion if he/she doesn't keep cool.

  • Remember his/her leash, harness, or harness. He/she must always have it in our common areas, especially in the wet areas and restaurant. We have enough green areas to keep him/her free for as long as you wish. This will ensure the safety of him/her, as well as that of other dogs and humans.

  • Pack his/her bed so he/she can be comfortable. He/she will surely miss it, as our policy is not to allow him/her to sleep on our beds or in our linens. This could entail taking part or all of the pet deposit.

  • We recommend bringing his/her favorite toy to entertain him/her while you are away, so he/she doesn't get stressed out while he/she is alone and without entertainment. We have found that when your pet is provided with entertainment, they are calmer when left alone. However, never leave them unattended.

  • If your pet is a specially managed breed (specially managed dogs are those such as the American Staffordshire Terrier, Bullmastiff, Doberman, Dogo Argentino, Dogue de Bordeaux, Fila Brasileiro, Neapolitan Mastiff, Bull Terrier, Pit Bull Terrier, American Pit Bull Terrier, Presa Canario, Rottweiler, Staffordshire Terrier, and Japanese Tosa), remember that they must bring a muzzle. It is important that you remember this and be aware of this situation.

  • Likewise, if your pet has a history of aggression, we recommend leaving them at home or at a trusted kennel.

  • For felines, our main special request is to keep them in a crate while outside the room, as the area has many animals and attractions that could cause them to get lost.

Plan your trip out of town

Although we're getting closer to Medellín, departure time can make the difference between arriving in 40 minutes or over an hour. The best departure times are to avoid the city's rush hour. Remember that the Western Tunnel closes at 2:00 a.m., 5:00 a.m., 8:00 a.m., and 8:00 p.m. on weekdays, and at 2:00 a.m., 5:00 a.m., 8:00 a.m., and 10:00 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Avoid arriving at the tunnel during these times.

Leave early and have breakfast at our hotel. Our buffet or à la carte breakfast is spectacular, and then you can enjoy your sunny day or our facilities while your room is checked in.

If you're traveling by public transportation, we recommend purchasing your tickets in advance to avoid missing out and leaving at a later time than expected.
